Lion Lal entered the world of lionism when the joined the Lions Club of kottawa central as a member in 1991. He served the humanity with kindness, dedication and understanding and was over willing to share his means with the less fortunate.
Having identified his leadership qualities and the great potential, he was called to serve as the club secretary, and 3rd Vice president of the club in 2000/01. In the year 2002/03 Lion Lal lead the club as president, winning many award at the District Convention. 
He won the prestigious 100% Club President Excellence award.
At club level, his service to the needy was commendable and chooses the areas of the service after studying the needs of the people, we serve.

His first District Cabinet appointment was in 2003/04 under the governorship of Deshabandu Lion Dr. Soma Edirisinghe, Since then, all successive governors sought his service in various capacities. He fulfilled is duties and responsibilities and excelled in Completing the task entrusted to him.

Lion Lal received the District Governors special appreciation awards as Region Chairman, Zone Chairman and membership development.
He is also a recipient of many District and International awards too numerous to enumerate.
A Lion committed to serve the needy, He worked tirelessly to spread the philosophy of Lionism among the many he associated with.
He is a Melvin Jones fellow and participated in International Conventions held in Honallulu, U.S.A.-Detroit & Osaka – Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, U.S.A. – Boston and was a delegate at the ISSAME conference in India 2006/07 and at the Senior Lions Leadership Seminar at Senior Lion Leadership institute, Hyderabad, India 2009.
Lion Lal is a product of Isipathana Collage, Colombo, where he received his education. He was a keen sportsman and represented in cricket. Rugby, athletics at school level. He also represented in cricket at the club level at B.R.C. , C.C.C. and S.S.C. during this period. He was also a active member of the CH & FC rugby team.
Lion Lal is the Chairman and the Managing Director of CRAFTICA WOODLAND (PVT) Ltd, which is one of the leading exporters.

This simple, dedicated and determined Lion Lal is married to Lady Lion Aruni, who has been a great influence in his achievements. She is a silent motivator and has always been besides him in all his lionistic activities and contributed her share to perfection as his partner.

Lion Lal and Lady Lion Aruni are blessed with a son and a daughter, both of whom are members of Leo club of Kottawa and Leo club of Kottawa Central Golden City and the son Leo Savinda was the Charter President of the Leo Club and also the President of the Leo District 306C2 in the year 2011/12
